Lieff Ranch Vineyard

Lieff Ranch Vineyard, Santa Ynez, California
Los Olivos District AVA

The grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc
26 acres of vines planted on land of the historic Roblar cattle ranch

“Los Olivos District AVA sits on a broad alluvial terrace above the Santa Ynez River. Soils range from moderate to well-drained sandy and clay loam soils with good quantities of nutrients. The AVA is largely flat, with a gentle southern decline towards the river. Vineyards throughout the district receive similar amounts of rain, fog and sun exposure. The inland location reduces the marine fog to only a thin layer, this low level produces warm daytime temperatures and cool nighttime temperatures that are beneficial to fruit ripening, sugar production and the maintenance of grape acidity.” - Wine Searcher

In 2019 Robert and Susan Lieff purchased the original Roblar cattle ranch in Santa Ynez. The property included the historic farmhouse and the original schoolhouse. Robert and Susan restored the buildings – all outbuildings, the barn, the cottages. They planted 26 acres of grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Current Lieff Ranch wines are from this vineyard. The 2021 Lieff Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml released in October 2023, has sold out. The large format, 1.5L is available in limited quantities.
